[Pinned] Closure push

DomminNation!

"Closure," I would argue, is the one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen. The sheer courage involved in many of those who went completely public with some of their most personal and intimate struggles leaves this songwriter a very humble man. In SO many ways, this video and the song is worthy of much more than the attention it has been given.

There is so much about this video that is "newsworthy" The method of this video: I don't know of many or any music videos that use footage that actual fans shot themselves and sent in. The content: I don't know of any music videos that display such courage of your every day individuals, not actors. People are revealing things about themselves to the entire world that many take to the grave.

We need people who are passionate about this song and video to be our DELEGATES to the media. We need your efforts and your voice to let the world know about the courage and power of this video and the strength of the song.

Here are some specific ideas that you can attempt that would help us:

1. Contact the coordinators, counselors or publicity departments for your local support groups/charities: Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Battered Womens Shelter, Inpatient Rehabs, Eating Disorder Association, Cult Hotline, Suicide Hotline, Sexual Abuse Support Groups etc...any group that you think should know this song exists.

&

2. Contact editors/writers for your locally published newspapers and entertainment publications. You'll have a bigger chance of success with your local chapters/publications than with the Los Angeles Times or The New York Times. Although, it wouldn't hurt to contact them either. Let them know about this song and how it helped you. Tell your story. Or just tell them you can't believe this isn't getting more attention. See if they'll pick it up.

Please work together so that we don't have 50 people bombarding one person. We don't want to annoy anyone. It's more effective for one person to email a contact and to follow up and build a relationship than for 50 people to email a sales pitch. We don't want to sound like we're selling something. Your emails/letters will go far if they are sincere and from your heart. I encourage you to work at the local level where you live and where it really matters to you. I'm sure many of you can think of other avenues to add to the ones I listed above. Use this forum for your ideas, to connect and organize with each other and post any progress you make. It will be difficult. But, I have no doubt that our passion together can break through any wall that's put up in front of us. Encourage each other.

Let us know about any progress you make.

And Thank You!

Kris,

This is an AMAZING idea. I just sent an email, with a link to the video, the the coordinators of our local Youth Alliance and Teen Crisis groups. I was a peer counselor/volunteer for these organizations, oh so many moons ago, and still maintain contacts with some of the staff. I will keep you posted on the progress.

I think it is a fine idea and I REALLY hope it meets with success because this video/song IS powerful and has a very important message that a lot of people could benefit from.

Love this idea and I completely agree that Closure needs more attention. I'm checking out various local newspaper websites in Denver and surrounding cities. Many of them have a section dedicated to news-worthy arts/music articles as well as an option to submit information to the editors. I will get on this more tomorrow, I'm feeling a bit brain-dead at the moment. LOL. Time for bed.

Not quite sure what i can do, BUT i know we have a young mums thing in the town, its for expectant-new mums that need shelter for numerous reasons. A friend of mine stayed there.

I've just had a word with my son, and hes seen adverts on the bus, he thinks local, for drug abuse help centres, and things like that, i will do a bit of research later to see what i can find and send emails too.

I'll post later places i've found.

OH i think high schools and colleges would be a very good place to start, they must have some sort of support groups within them for youngsters having a tough time with numerous problems that they maybe can't really talk about. I'm starting there.....first running really really late with Ippy walk, shes not a happy puppy with me :)

Sounds like a great idea! I've already told my friends about the video, gave a presentation on Dommin and just a moment ago I sent a mail to zdfkultur (a TV channel in Germany) - I hope I sounded convincing. :-) Now I'll see what I can do with the newspapers...

Good luck to everyone!

I completely agree. When the video was first released, I posted it and sent messages to rehabs, related facebook groups and to anyone else I could think of. I will continue to try to spread this powerful video along!
