Drive A posts link on site that blasts HIM, DOMMIN and We Are The Fallen
May 19, 2010 2:22:33 AM UTC Post #1

So Drive A posted a link to an article that basically said they should have headlined the tour the shared with HIM, DOMMIN and We Are The Fallen. The article glorified Drive A and made them sound like a band full of Gods while everyone else on tour was nothing but a group of worthless cliche's. Kinda pissed me off, and I just wondered if anyone else saw this article... If not here is the link... Let me know what you all think...

That article was horrible. I didn't even finish it. Whoever wrote it must not have been there. I was there and Drive A was not popular at all. They were unfortunately not a good match for Dommin, We Are The Fallen & HIM. I'm sure they tried their best, but it looked as though most of the audience was just waiting for them to finish up. People around the table that I was sitting at were all just rolling their eyes and looking bored. Dommin was awesome for the start. I hadn't heard them before and I was instantly hooked (and they had to perform without Billy). There was nothing 'stale' about them. "Nothing seemed to be refreshing about the display on stage" is a bullshit statement. People were so much more into Dommin than Drive A. Even before Dommin came on, a guy at my table said "So have you heard Dommin yet?" I say "No, not yet" he says "They're FUCKIN' awesome!!" and I said "I am intrigued". He wasn't the only one who was excited to see Dommin play. There were nods of appreciation from all around when they started their set. Clapping and cheering were in abundance and everyone was singing to (I Just) Died in Your Arms. There is no way that Drive A could out play Dommin. NO. WAY.

Okay, I admit that Dommin and HIM are two of my favorite bands, so I am a little biased, BUT the author of that article is delusional. In comparison to the other acts, Drive A lacked maturity. They were obnoxious, and were so young that they were still playing the "lets say the F word even when it doesn't make grammatical sense, cause it makes us sound cool" game. They lacked any sense of style, musical knowledge or stage presence. At the Atlanta show, most of the audience had cleared out by the end of their set. Even at the merch table, they were sitting there selling Dommin's gear while the guys took pictures.

I don't know who decided to put them on the tour, but it didn't make any sense with the other types of music being played. In my opinion there was no comparison.

Them posting a link to this article shows you how ungrateful these children really are. When I first saw them I thought, please go through puberty first then try to win me over with this jumping etc and the lead singers accent really added insult to injury, in my opinion. As someone said earlier, somewhere?, they are like Green Day (cliche) but more rude. It's just disappointing to see that these kids were given a chance with a very well known band and they acted like this.

I just read the link you put up. Being in UK i didnt go to the US tour that HIM did,but every HIM blog ive read or seen online We are fallen, and especially Dommin was loved and enjoyed by everyone. While Drive A were slammed because they didnt match the line up,and were rude and not great as a band. (I did listen to Drive A,and i dont really like there music, and you can see they dont fit that bill for a tour) I dont think its right they can say such low things about the other bands. They should be grateful that HIM asked them to be one of there support bands.I know i would be hella grateful if HIM asked my band!. They just sound like a very spoilt band which is very sad to see.But then again,i aint seen them live, but only read and hear some pretty shocking stories about them.

I'm not going to bother reading the article and giving them any more page hits, but sounds like a bunch of self-important, self-absorbed teenagers to me. Their music was a completely different style, and I didn't really see how they fit in with the tour either. I don't know why the sour grapes, though. Being on this tour certainly gave them a lot of exposure they wouldn't have had otherwise. I did a blog post about the concert in Portland, but almost no one hit on the page looking for info on Drive A (seriously, like one or two). Lots of hits for Dommin, though

Feh, little snots.

The show I went to had next to no Drive A fans. I saw one person actually enjoying them. Many people thought they were obnoxious and didn't appreciate the moshing invitation. One girl actually got hurt cause of the moshing and the singer just went back up on stage and didn't even see if she was ok or apologize. Everyone around me was saying how they sucked. No one around me seemed to know who Dommin or We Are the Fallen are, but once both came on I heard good things from the people around me and alot of people seemed to be enjoying both bands. Of course since it was a Him concert everyone was interested in that. I actually was there more for Dommin and We Are the Fallen over Him. I must say though, I do kinda agree with the article about Him's performance. It was very lackluster. I used to be a huge Him fan, but about 8 months ago lost interest. Even though I went for Dommin and We Are the Fallen, I was still a bit excited to see Him cause I never saw them when I was more into them. I'm glad I wasn't there for Him, cause it was disappointing. I was so bored with their performance that I started looking at the other bands merch booth in the middle of Him's set. Then quickly talked with Kris and Billy and tried to watch the last 5 songs but was so bored just left early. Night was well worth it though because Dommin and We Are the Fallen were both great.

I am just miffed about the whole thing. I just cannot believe that they were given this great, fantastic opportunity, and would have the nerve to approve the posting of this completely biased article on their site. Ungrateful is not even the word. It is downright disrespectful. Not only to HIM, but DOMMIN and We Are The Fallen, two fantastic bands that showed total respect to everyone else on the tour.

There are a ton of unheard musicians out there who would be thankful to be on a tour with three other respected music acts, it just breaks my heart that this group of Ramones wanna-be's would shit on this opportunity. I would love to be in the presence and talent these 3 other groups so obviously exhibit and have the chance to have my songs heard. All of these bands are trying to make their mark in this world and should support one another, not hinder. Seems to me Drive A is happy riding the coat-tails of the adoration the fans had for the 3 other acts hoping to gain some fame of their own. Cold and backstabbing in my humble opinion.

I will say this... The only thing Drive A has going for them is their cute, hamburger hat wearing sound guy.

Blessed be to all...

I'm not even going to read it because I know I'll just get upset and quite possibly angry! I'll say it, I was there for HIM before I was there for Dommin, but Dommin totally blew me away when I saw them live! Anyway, I think the whole thing is completely immature and Drive A sound like a bunch of ungrateful, spoiled brats! My friend and I were a couple rows back and most of what people were saying about them before they came on was shit comments, they were dissing them basically. And it perturbed me at first, I was like give them a chance, jerks! I have to say, I enjoyed the music but the sound was terrible...as it was during Dommin's set...it wasn't their fault, it was just really bad sound there. It took a while for the people to get warmed up to them, but at our show there was people rocking out all over to their set. Then there was the mosh pit...this guy nearly lands on top of my friend and I then this whole stupid ass immature mosh pit starts, and I was afraid my glasses were gonna break or something but thankfully they didn't. I didn't think about it then, but while these jackasses were moshing, my friend and I should've stole our way to the rail. It DID feel good to get that cold water thrown on us! They were too damn loud, you could hardly hear the vocals, and the bass was set way too high. I didn't hear much complaining, just the few people in front of us, other than that all it took was some warming up from the other fans. Which is weird to me, since everyone else at the other shows say everyone hated them...

I wasn't NOT impressed, but it could've been better. And I didn't think the musical styles matched either. I don't know if they look at that sort of thing, but at least Dommin and HIM was a PERFECT combo! My friend bought their CD, I haven't listened yet. I can't really form an opinion about these boys because I've never met them and I don't know them personally. Though it was pretty shameless and sick to post this link on their site. I don't know if their intentions were to piss people off or if they were alerting people of it...I have no idea. So I'm not even going to go read it at all. I can't form an opinion about We Are The Fallen either because I was in the merch area during their entire set, waiting for Dommin. I've heard a few people say they didn't like them, but like I said, only heard a couple people complain about Drive A. Which is, again, very weird in contrast to these other shows.

Well I was going to post this, but then I realized I needed to be a member of their little board. I refuse to subscribe to such utter crap! I'm not opposed to hearing different viewpoints than my own, but this person is seriously insane. Here's my message to the writer of this article:

You are completely misguided. Drive-A cared more about 'seeming like a really cool punk band' rather than putting effort into their music. It was about 70% stage antics, with a side of music. LAME. They seemed more concerned with stage diving than rocking out. Dommin was DELIGHTFUL! They seemed well-rehearsed and gave the impression that they really cared about what they were doing. I saw them again when they did their own mini-headline tour on the way back to LA. Yet again, they were excellent. The sound system was messed up for We Are the Fallen, so I do not feel justified commenting on their performance. HIM did seem a bit toned down as compared to other performances of previous years, but they by no means "lacked effort". These guys put their heart and soul into making their music. Maybe if you stopped moshing for a bit and LISTENED to the music, you would be able to hear how impactful HIM's message is. By the way, I hope you were kidding when you said that HIM should open for Drive-A. Sit down and listen to a HIM CD and you will change your mind.
