How Did You Discover Dommin?
February 16, 2010 8:00:09 PM UTC Post #1

I actualy first heard of Dommin about 3 years ago, I recieved a friend request on myspace from a band that said something like "I see that you like some similar music, give us a listen", so I checked it out, and the first song I heard was "I Still Lost" and fell inlove. At the time I was in a love/ hate relationship with a girl that had me wrapped around her finger. I was so deeply in love, and at the same time never hated a person more, and Dommin hit me at just the right time, helping me to feel as if I'm not the only person playing this game called "love" and losing. Turns out things didn't work in that relationship, and listening to this music helped me through it. One day I decided I wanted more from Dommin then just the singles, so I went to get a copy "Mend Your Misery" and to my disapointment, they were all gone... I asked Dommin "what's the deal YO?" and they told me that they had just gotten signed to RoadRunner, and wouldn't be putting out any more copies of Mend your Misery. I was dissapointed about not getting the one album, but knew that this meant they would be releasing more in the future. About a year later I got into a new realtionship with a girl, and decided to start taking her out to show's, this was when Dommin was touring with The Birthday Massacre, she was already a fan of TBM so I saw this as a good opportunity to introduce her one of my favorate bands... She went in a TBM fan, and left a Dommin fan. later in the year Dommin came back around touring with The 69EYES, so we went to see them again, this time bringing another friend, again making a HUGE fan out of someone. After the show we got a chance to meet the band and have some stuff signed, being that they were the one of the nicest groups we had ever met, all 3 of us decided then to set out and do what we could to help promote Dommin's music at every turn. Sadly, within the last few months, the 2nd relationship didn't work out, so again I had to suffer through the pain of losing. This time around I had an album to look forward to "Love is Gone", After a LONG wait for a Dommin album, I got one, and yet again Dommin helped me to deal with what I was going through.

I hope that one day I get to personaly thank Kris, Billy, Cameron, and Konstantine for helping me to get through the hardships of everyday self loathing. I got your back Dommin

A true fan -Joe

I didn't know who Dommin was at first. I had never heard their music, so I was going in blind pretty much when I went the the show I went to.

Shortly after I went to the Blink-182 concert in August, I found out that The 69 Eyes would be touring. And so of course, before I even knew who the opening bands were I planned on going. I later found out that the Becoming was playing with them, and I still hadn't heard anything about Dommin.

But once I heard that The Becoming was going to be playing, I got excited because then I knew I could get a group of friends to go. So there were three of us that went and one of my friends was like, "So Dommin's pretty good too." And I was like, "Okay, I still haven't listened to them." Haha, so during the show at iRock, I was up in front pretty much the WHOLE time, and I rocked through the Becoming set. And then Dommin came on, and I listened and totally dug their sound. I didn't listen to the whole set but most of it. I was just so stoked about everything that I swore I passed by them a couple of times and said hi and what have you, but I don't really remember a whole lot of what happened.

But that's my story. haha.

I've loved their tunes ever since.

I first saw and heard of Dommin when i went to see The Birthday Massacre concert. I fell in love with their music. Then Dommin gave me 2 roses during their preformance. I grew very fond of the music they played and decided to listen more to their music. Then I became a loving fan of Dommin.

Awwww. haha I couldn't miss the Eyes, they were the whole reason I went to the concert anyway.

I missed a couple of songs in Dommin's set, but was able to still make it back to listen to a few of their songs and I liked them and yeah. It just goes on from there.

I am new to Dommin, I first heard them a few weeks ago. I was searching for live reviews of The Becoming that would help decide how far I'd be willing to drive to see them. Everything I read said The Becoming was not that good live but Dommin was amazing, I you tubed and seen their Live cover of "I just died in your arms tonight", I never cared much for that song in the 80's but thought Dommin's version was amazing so I listened to more on Yahoo Rhapsody, LOVED all the songs on the album so I bought it.

I didn't think that The Becoming put on a bad show, it was pretty good. I didn't get to hear Dommin's cover of "Died in Your Arms" either time I went to see them, but we did get to hear an amazing rendition of Depech Mode's "People Are People".

Same here! Fell for the music instantly and "I still lost" just fit so perfect with a situation I found myself in a year back or so wich made it mean even more to me. I havent heard a bad track yet, wich means you guys been doing an amazing job! Not many bands can do that nowdays, its almost unheard of;)

It was kind of Dommin that discovered us as possible fans then! hah!

@RebelAngel I've not heard a bad track from them yet. Both Love is Gone and Mend Your Misery are great albums, and I've even heard some of the unreleased stuff, and it's great too. One song inpaticular, I've been trying to convince Kris to release it in some form.

One of the great things about Dommin is that they do care about their fans, they go out of their way to find new people to listen to their music, and make sure to have hands on time with the people that already love them. At each show that I've seen them at I've had a good conversation with them, and online I've never sent an email that they haven't replied to.

@Riff Raff: Sounds like youre one of the lucky americans that get the chance to see them every now and then;) Me, I live in Sweden and the only show ever planned as you know was cancelled. But hopefully theyll get back here soon. When I first heard Dommin I could bet a million bucks on that it could have possibly been me and 5 others in this whole country ever heard them so this its a big thing to get to see them live.

Yeah Ive heard everything I could get a hold of. i evern forced a pal in canada to download mend your misery and sent it to me via msn cause It was impossible for me to find it anywhere. FINALLY when love is gone released they started selling it overe here too so Im patiently waiting for it to drop down my mailbox:D

What song are you thinking about? The unreleased one you mentioned?

February 17, 2010 8:06:00 AM UTC Post #10

I didn't know that show was canceled, I'm sorry to hear that. Email them, tell them that you and others want them to come to Sweden, and get your friends to email them too, cuz the more people they can expect at a show the more lickely they are to schedule one.

I had to download Mend your Misery too, It's just too hard to find, and it's not like Dommin was lossing out on it, they already sold all of their copies and arn't going to be making anymore. I'd still get a copy if I could.

The song I was talking about is called "Falling into Ashes", it's a perfect song... all it needs is the final master and Kris told me that he's already had it mastered but doesn't want to release it, it's up on playlist.com. Give it a listen and tell Kris he shouldn't keep from releasing this song, it's too good to let die.
