So, here I am in my hotel room when I should be on stage tearing it up. Unfortunately, as I started singing last night, I noticed that my voice was not letting me do what I normally should be able to do. I powered through the set and felt pretty crappy at the end of the show.

I wake up this morning to find no sound coming out of my mouth when I tried to talk. MY VOICE IS GONE! It's up and left me! So now I feel pretty damn useless. It's really bumming me out. Normally Laryngitis takes about a week to pass. But I'm hoping I can knock it out with some poisonous anti-inflammatory drugs in the next 3 days. It's been pretty rough though. It was only a matter of time until it all caught up with me. We've been touring solid since January 31st. I think I got sick 3 or 4 times when in Europe and then once when I returned to the USA. I thought I was over the sickness but Laryngitis is not a contagious disease. It's basically your vocal chords telling you the hard way to take it easy. And after all the coughing, singing, interviews and talking etc...I probably put my chords through some tough times.

So here I am, pretty bummed that I can't be at the show tonight. I feel like I let the fans down and really am blowing a huge opportunity to expose the band to all the new fans we would have made tonight. Fortunately, the rest of the boys are at the show just hanging out. I hope that in some way compensates for not being able to be there. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be back in full effect for Pittsburgh. All I know is that I feel fine, I'm not ill, I just can't speak or sing!

So since I'm here killing time, I might as well bring everyone up to speed on the latest. The tours in Europe were fantastic. We finished out the tours by doing our own headlining show in London. That was another show I didn't think I was going to be able to pull through as it was hurting to speak that day. But after warming up and praying all day, I managed. It was really so neat to hear a room full of people singing the songs back to me. And not just a few songs, but EVERY song. They knew them all! So it was a great night to have a lot of crowd participation. We pretty much played the entire album.

So as we started with the shows in the US, it was very similar to the reactions in Europe. A small number of people there to see us and the large majority of people being very pleasantly surprised. My opinion of one thing is slightly changing. I used to hold the belief that women civilized men. But after being at these shows, some of these girls are crazy! People are literally fighting and getting hurt because of territorial girls. Now don't get me wrong, those girls are alright, I've dated a few (hehe)...but you just don't want to be next to them at a concert...because after they sway their arms in your face, they might try to kick your ass for telling them they should be considerate of the other hundreds of people around them. I've never played through so many fights at a show. It's quite interesting playing a song like "Dark Holiday" as a security guard is knocking someone over the head and dragging them out the door. But all in all, the shows have been the best thing we've done. The plan as of now is to do some headlining shows on the way back from the HIM tour to get us back home to Los Angeles. I really want to make these shows special and I think they will be.

Well, I guess that's all for now. I'm going to head into the Premium Member forum and check out some posts and respond.

Hey Kris,

I saw you perform at the Sound Academy in Toronto with HIM last week. You were amazing. You have a beautifully hypnotizing voice and you guys are so talented. I can really relate to your music. I went out and bought your album the next day.

Anyway that sucks that you lost your voice. I hope you get better soon so more people can hear your awesomeness. You guys definitely have a lot of new fans.

Oh man, that's just an awful predicament to be in. Hope you're back on top form soon Kris, but don't push it to get back onstage too soon or you'll end up back to square one again in a couple of days.

Oh, those girls - they're not just American! I was stood in front of one of those girls in Manchester and I think it might be infectious as I nearly turned into one of those girls myself. I'm usually a very laid back person, but I nearly knocked her block off for screaming rude things about Dommin down my ear. Luckily for her and me a few filthy Medusa looks on my part silenced her temporarily. I decided the back of the venue was the safest place once HIM took to the stage, in case she carried on the rabid fangirl screaming down my ear and I decided to use my walking stick as an offensive weapon.

Good luck, get well soon and come and visit us in Manchester with a little headline show later in the year if you possibly can!

You are so sweet! Your sitting there with Laryngitis and your worried about the fans! I am sure they are upset but i am sure they understand. The most important thing is your health.Your body IS telling you to rest!! It will be alright...your voice will come back and you can get back up there and tear it up again! You have a passionate following already and it will only grow as this tour moves on! You guys deserve it all! I fell in love with the music from the moment i heard it..but seeing you guys live left me in AWW! You have something really special to offer..and i cannot wait to see you play again! Take care and rest that Beautiful voice of yours!!

that sucks about Cincy. BUT... any chance of you guys just playing instrumental versions of the songs? that would be cool!

Don't feel bad Kris we understand. Your voice will come back, just do all the usual stuff, warm tea, rest your cords, if you can get some moisture in the air (?) it may help. I hear "Clear Voice" throat spray works well. I haven't tried it myself, my raspy cords have other issues and only time will tell. But I have high hopes and so does my Doc. :) As for the girls (hahahaha) you just have to get use to them, I guess...lol As I walk through the music business myself and being feminine I see why it is so hard for girls to be taken seriously. Just don't judge us all by them few, we are not all like that. See you in Grand Rapids, MI :)

Like scarredsoul said; You should listen to your body and take good care of it. It great that you're doing a extended tour and every night after the show you go talk to your fans. But your first priority should be your health! It's the most important thing you have.

Hope you start feeling better soon, all pressures aside, Kris I think you might really want to start LISTENING to your body. It's giving out, take a break. What I will say though, is I'm hoping you are doing better by next week as me and mine have been looking forward to the HIM show in St. Louis, not so much for HIM but for you. And it would suck quite a bit if we don't get to see you guys.

Still, I would rather you be healthy than anything else but...still hoping to see you there and at least get a few pictures or something with you and guys. Get better, try some heat on your vocal chords and don't push it the next few days.
