Okay I thought that since there's a thread for bands you've seen live, why not have one for bands and artists you've actually met? Nickelback - Chad Kroeger twice, Ryan Peake twice, Mike Kroeger three times, and Daniel Adair twice. Nickelback Crew - Timmy (Guitar Tech), Shuu (Bass tech), and Hawk (Guard) a few times Dommin - Once Tyler Connelly from Theory of A Deadman - Once Brent Smith & Barry Kerch from Shinedown - Once All of Halestorm - Once The Leo Project - Twice Shaun Morgan & Troy McLawhorn from Seether - Once Aaron Fink from Breaking Benjamin - Once Black Oxygen - Once Brett Ditgen from Red Line Chemistry - Once Chris Daughtry - Once and he was drunk, LOL!! Nathan Hunt from Shaman's Harvest - Twice Drummer from Shaman's Harvest - Once (Can't remember his name) Vivian Campbell from Def Leppard - Once I am extremely thankful and I am hoping for more opportunities like this at the upcoming Nickelback concert! I'd love to hear about who everyone else has met! |

I suffer from terminal shyness and despite being nearly 40 the guys from Dommin were actually the first band I met in person. And they were all really lovely guys. And *drumroll* ohmygodohmygodohmygod! I met Dave McPherson last Thursday! I can't tell you how over the moon I am with that and I honestly don't care if I never meet anybody from a band again as this was a big deal for me. I can't tell you how much InMe and Dave's solo stuff mean to me - I'm still in absolute jaw dropping awe every time I listen. I saw him walking about the venue and I could feel my heart racing in terror - I thought I'd stutter, blush, get verbal diahorrea or somehow make a tit of myself in any number of ways if I ever met him. The next thing I'm face to face with him at the merch table. Turns out I needn't have worried as we smiled at each other. I managed to tell him exactly what I wanted to without making a complete twat of myself... and of that I am very proud - he-he! I felt really calm and relaxed in his company as he came across as so warm and genuine. I told him exactly what I've always wanted to tell him - that no band or artist has meant so much to me and given me as much pleasure to listen to over the last 7 years. I got a huge smile and a thank you from him, gave him the same back and literally bought the t- shirt. Oooh - and Marc Halls from Fei Comodo as he was the act on before Dave. I didn't recognize him even as I chatted to him and bought one of Dave's t-shirts as he was manning the merch table. He looks NOTHING like he does in the band's videos or photos (far better looking in real life), but I've seen Fei live so I had no excuse really other than at that gig I was drowning in the wall of death as the crowd went mental. Alright - I'll stop gushing now.

Thanks - I'm so glad I met him. Well worth sitting through the first two bands who were a bit rubbish and I don't even care enough to know who they were. All I remember is one was basically Oasis on speed and the other was like Siouxsie & The Banshees without the good songs and backcombed hair. Mind you, she at least inadvertently provided the night with some comedy gold. I did feel a bit sorry for her, but it was hilarious all the same. Trying her best to engage the indifferent crowd, she said "So, what bring you out on a Thursday night then?" and a bloke from the back shouted "DAVE!" I suppose she did ask for it. Fei often tour with InMe so I'll probably see them myself again in the near future. I had only heard a couple of tracks the first time I saw them and all I could make out inbewteen being buffeted about was this onslaught of sonic absue, the band throwing themselves about and periodically Mark screaming "HELLO, WE'RE FEI COMODO" They were ace!

Your son has good musical taste. They're definitely original and I love the way the song structures are frankly a bit mental. And Marc Hall's vocals are superb. I'm a sucker for vocalists who don't sound like anybody else and sing like they mean it. Ha - I could have just been talking about Exit Ten who I also have a huge soft spot for. Oh yes - Fei's t-shirts are fantastic - I think one of the band designs them all. There's a few designs I like, but I'm not a rabid enough fan to walk round with Fei Comodo written across my boobies. Come to think of it I don't even own an InMe t-shirt and I love them! Mind you, I only walk the dogs in them so who's going to either know or care?
