Have you heard these Dommin songs that are not on the first album?
Has anyone out there listened to " Next Day Apologies" or "Falling into ashes"? I believe, BELIEVE, they are original Dommin songs... I think "Next Day Apologies" is soooo high school... LOL... I love the upbeat feel of it...
Little girl those crazy nights are over Things are looking clear now that you are sober But it's patience I have not After a hundred times of the same old plot Little girl those crazy nights are over
I'm tired of the next day apologies I'm tired of the next day hypocrisy I'm sorry, I'm sorry, is all I hear The next day I'm gonna disappear I'm tired of the next day apologies
As for, "Falling into Ashes"...beautiful... like always... the lyrics are amazing and I find the... what sounds like "angel" better yet "fallen angel" voices very soothing in a somewhat spooky way..
My world is falling into ashes And living in the past is all I that I can do And I’m frightened Searing for the light and I don’t know what I am holding onto Pay no attention to the sky Crumbling all around us look into my eyes And take this time to reminisce And savor this last and final melancholy kiss
The sound of the "broken" heart???- what makes Dommin, DOMMIN?
Hello Board,
I am positive that everyone on this forum is a Dommin fan and has obviously at this point listened to Dommin's first album... "Love is Gone". Many music outlets, interviews with band and the band's official webpage (this site) describes their sound as THE sound of the "broken hearted"... which without dispute (I would argue) is very acurate. I'm not sure if how many of you fans out there have stumbled into the blog in which Kris discusses the development of the music and the barriers he is facing in regards to creating music that some may NOT consider/label "Dommin" material. I am wondering how fans out there would feel IF Dommin produced music that moved away from "the broken hearted" sound? How would you feel if the music went from being dark and emotionally broken... to something more upbeat, perhaps something with a hint of swing and more optismistic about Love? Would you consider these changes NONE "Dommin" material?
Personally... what I consider "Dommin" material is the fact that the music is raw and doesnt really fit in one gendre, as someone put it "Dommin is its own gendre". This specific band is not scared to explore other elements and plays with the sounds in ways that makes their music come alive. I dont think I need to elaborate, hence the musical bridge from "Without End" and "Closure" on the album, or the strings in "Remember" and "Dark Holiday", and not to mention the composition of "I still lost" and "Making the most". The voice of the lead singer is clearly unique and adds that element the pushes the music to another level ( NO explanation needed here). Most importantly, it is the lyrics that hit the pinnacle. The lyrics and music effectively illustrate the message. I think its amazing how a well selection of words can make something so amazing. It would be "naive" of me to expect every single Dommin record to sound the same, seeing that each song in "Love is Gone" is a different from every other song on the record. I personally would NOT expect "Dommin" to exclusively sing about failed relationships and broken hearts. Especially, when its been stated that the songs the band plays are "autobiographical"... I would hope to hear songs and lyrics like "Remember" that paint the other side of love and songs/lyrics that are flirty like "Tonight". Whether the music is slow or fast, whether it incorporates new sounds or instruments.. I believe Dommin followers will remain loyal fans as long as the band contiues to embrace the elements that makes them special. With this said... what do you think? would you be dissapointed if Dommin's next record wasnt as dark and emotionally broken like "Love is Gone"? What elements would you consider "Dommin" material? Better yet.. what makes Dommin... Dommin?
P.S> Have ya heard "Next Day Apologies" or "Falling into ashes"... look them up on youtube ;)
